Knowing how humans learn, especially as adults, is important to our success as faculty. Children are naturally curious…what happens to them as they get older? Why do they seem to become less curious? It’s less about them, and more about our system of educating them. How many of you have been asked to take a 50-question multiple choice exam at work? I know I haven’t, and I suspect many of you have not either. Exams aren’t very motivating. How can we bring that curiosity back to our students? By understanding how we learn as humans, we can help our students get back to the desire to learn. This post is about tapping into what made us learn in the first place and what motivates us as adults. Enjoy these two presentations on learning!
