As an experienced higher education professional with over two decades of leadership in online learning, faculty development, and academic administration, I have dedicated my career to fostering excellence in teaching and learning. Currently serving as the Director of Faculty Development for Online Programs at the University of Texas at San Antonio, I play a key role in shaping innovative faculty development strategies and guiding educators in transitioning to online modalities. My leadership was critical in managing the rapid shift to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting hundreds of faculty members in effectively adapting their teaching. I am passionate about creating inclusive and engaging learning environments and have successfully led numerous initiatives in course design, accreditation, and quality assurance across multiple institutions. My collaborative approach and commitment to evidence-based teaching practices have earned me recognition for driving meaningful change in higher education.
I have earned four college degrees: An associate’s degree from State Fair Community College in Missouri, a bachelor’s degree in Vocational Education Studies (emphasis in Training and Development) from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, a master’s degree in Adult Education from The University of Oklahoma, and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Oklahoma State University.
With 30+ years of experience in higher education, I’ve done most every job. I coordinated travel programs for The University of Oklahoma, I hired and trained faculty for the University of Phoenix in three states, I led a non-profit arts organization, I wrote and interpreted policy for the State Regents for Higher Education in Oklahoma, and I have taught at all levels in higher education, from first year students to facilitating doctoral work. There’s not much I haven’t seen or experienced, and I’m happy to share with others what I have learned.
I believe in leading and teaching with empathy. As Maya Angelou said, they may not remember what you did, or what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel. If you’ve worked with me or been in my classes, I hope I made you feel like you could do anything!
